Chalk Couture – Chalking on a Mirror

You can even chalk on a mirror.  I cleaned the mirror with glass cleaner first.  I used the Be Brilliant transfer which unfortunately has been discontinued.  I used Chalkology Paste Fresh Linen for the bulb and Storm for the rays and base of the bulb.  When you’re ready to change up the decor simply spray glass cleaner on the chalk, let it soak in for a few minutes and wipe off.

Chalk Couture – Bathroom Etiquette Canvas

I started with four 8 x 10 canvas and applied a coat of white gesso to each.

I have to make a confession here.  I’m not very good at taking photos as I work.  I go into my studio and the creative juice start flowing.  I forget everything, as it should be right?!?!  (The kid comes in “what’s for lunch?” “Are ya kiddin me?  I fed you yesterday!” kind of thing.)

Anyway (big sigh)!  I painted two canvases in light blue and two in dark blue.  I chose colors that would coordinate with the pastes that I chose.  You can use wichever colors coordinate with your home decor.  For these canvases I used the Bathroom Etiquette Transfer, Chalkology Paste Ocean Mist, and Midnight Sky.  After the paint dried I used the tranfer to apply the paste, dark on light and light on dark.  I also used Bright White for the toothpaste and bristles of the toothbrush.

When the paste dried I sprayed glimmer mist over the canvases, unfortunatlly the glimmer mist that I used came in a bulk package so I don’t know what the color was but I do know that it was Tattered Angels.

I then sprayed each canvas with a gloss sealer.

Here is a look at each canvas.

I also did a set in shades of red.

Chalk Couture – Bon Appetit

I started with a piece of granite and wiped it down with alcohol.  I used the Bon Appetit transfer and Chalkology Paste Ocean Mist for the words and silverware, Green Envy for the branches, and Garden Herb for the olives.

I used paste so I could wash it off and do a different design in the future if I get bored with this one.

Chalk Couture – Kindness Canvas

I started with an 8 x 10 canvas and applied a coat of white gesso.

I used the Chalk Couture Kindness Transfer and Chalkology Paste Bright White.

To get the gold and pink color I added some loose powder eye shadow from the dollar store.  However, (I’m so excited about this) Chalk Couture has come out with Chalkology Paste Shimmer Gold, Shimmer Silver, and Shimmer Copper. I would highly recommend that you use the paste because they have better glimmer/shimmer.

After I applied the paste to the canvas and let it dry I applied some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edge of the canvas to give it a vintage look.

Next, I used a matte sealer to seal the paste.  The chalk paste can be permanent if it is sealed.  Being a canvas if I did wash the paste off there might be some ghosting (staining) so I just sealed it.  Why use paste instead of ink?  If it’s something that will be washed (clothing-dishes) I would use ink.  Why seal paste?  Some surfaces don’t lend themselves well to being used over and over (unfinished wood, textured surfaces).   The paste is intended to be non-permanent so you can change your home decor.

I cut a paper doily into quarters and glued two-quarter pieces to opposite corners.  It doesn’t matter what kind of glue you use, whatever is on hand.  I added some ribbon to the edge of the canvas, and flowers ’til my heart’s content.  Then I added a bling stip to the top of the canvas and glued some rhinestones randomly to a few pieces of confetti.

And there you have it “Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti”.

Chalk Couture – Kindness Clipboard

I picked this little clipboard up at the dollar store.  I used the Have Courage transfer and Chalkology Ink Couture Coral.  I didn’t want to do the flowers around the words so I masked them off with painters tape.

Then I applied the ink.  You just wipe the ink onto the transfer with one of Chalk Couture’s squeegees.  It doesn’t take much of the ink.

I heat set this with  my iron.  I was nervous about putting it in my oven.  So with my iron and a piece of parchment paper I ironed just the ink side on medium heat for 4 minutes.

Small Upcycled Valentine Heart Candy Box and Mini Album

This is an upcycled candy box that I altered and then made a mini album to go inside the box.  I also put a window in the lid of the box.  I used Delta Ceramcoat Crackle to give it a distressed vintage look.

A look at the box and mini album.

Small Upcycled Valentine Heart Candy Box and Mini AlbumI used a piece of acetate sheet for the window.  I just traced the shape of the box and cut the acetate to fit.  I cut the pages of the album from 1/8 inch thick chipboard.

Small Upcycled Valentine Heart Candy Box and Mini AlbumI crackle painted the edges of the album and embellished the pages.
