Frugal Friday – Post-it-Note Key Chain

Keep those bits of paper for post-it-note pad covers.  Cut the paper to the width of the pad and double the length plus the thickness of the pad.  Fold the paper over the post-it-notes.

Punch a hole in the corner (you might need a tool like the crop-a-dile).  Put a loose-leaf ring in the hole, embellish as desired.  Voila you have post-it-notes at your fingertips all the time.  You can hang these on your key chain, purse, gym bag, by the phone, wherever you need them.

Chalk Couture

Chalk Couture – Journal

Donut Give Up!

I have added another medium to my repertoire – Chalk Couture.  What is Chalk Couture?  A revolutionary concept in decor and crafting that you won’t find anywhere else.  Chalk Couture is revolutionizing DIY and home décor with category-creating products like Chalkology Paste, Chalk Transfers, Couture Ink and our exclusive Boards.

I purchased a journal from my local dollar store to use as a base.  The transfer I used is a monthly subscription transfer but you can use any transfer that puts a smile on your face.  I used Chalkology Paste Bright White for the base of all the donuts as well as the words.  Before the words dried I sprinkled glitter on them.  The silver glitter is chunky and in my experience didn’t stick and stay on after drying as well as the gold glitter, which is a fine glitter.

When you layer pastes you need to let each layer dry completely before adding more.  I love to experiment when I play, so I used finger daubers and stamp ink to color my donut bases.  I did a pink, light brown and a cream color.  Then I did the next layer in Chalkology Paste Currant Jam and Chalkology Paste Peacock.  For the pink I used the ink-dauber method.  For the other layers I used all 3 colors as I wished to make my donuts look yummy.

The pastes are semi-permanent, which means when it dries it is hard, won’t rub off.  However if you spray it with water you can wipe it off, unless you seal it.  I wanted my journal to be permanent so I sprayed it with a Krylon  sealer after everything was completely dry.

8 1/2″ x 11″ Organizer

I made this organizer a few years ago.  Inside the front cover are two large full length pockets, a box style pocket with a flap for business cards, sticky notes and a pen.  There is also a magnetized hidden area behind the front cover which houses more 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper, inspirational sayings, two photos and a pocket for money.  On the flip side of the inspirational sayings is a changeable year at a glance.  Inside the back cover is a small triangular pocket that holds 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper.

Shopping Organizer

I put a couple coats of Mode Podge on the outside of the cover for easy clean up.  The outside cover is entirely made of chipboard for durability.  It also has a magnetic closure.

There’s a sticky note page right inside the front cover for all those last minute items we all forget and never seem to have paper and pen handy so we can write them down (the sticky notes are chocolate themed of course).  We might as well be honest here too, the older we get the more sticky notes we need.

Behind the sticky note page is a secret page and pocket with a magnetic closure.  This would be a place for keeping the secret shopping list, you know the one with the chocolate items on it (shh don’t tell anyone).  Is it obvious that I like chocolate?  Okay I do but it’s in our DNA so really it’s to be expected.

Secret Page With Magnetic Closure

Inside the first page on the left is a file folder system for organizing coupons.  On the right is a series of pockets for store rewards cards or credit cards.

The second page has on the left side three pockets, one large one for shopping lists and two smaller ones for receipts.  The right side has more file folders for coupons.

The back of the second page has another pocket.  The inside back cover has a place for some photos and a pen.

The two pages can be removed if desired leaving the shell of the organizer.

I added lace for touchy feelly interest and I like a vintage aged look so I added tons of ink on the edges of every thing.  This is a fun and pretty way of doing the monotonous chore of shopping.

Close to my Heart My Creations Memory Game

The chipboard pieces are divided into three bucket list mini albums (one for each of my family members).  I punched one side with my cropadile and bound them with twine.  Then I lined one side of each chipboard page for journaling the bucket list and left one side for a photo of the bucket list item.  This is great for looking back on if you start feeling depressed or discouraged and even negative.  We need to fill our lives and homes with these mood lifting, positive things to keep us on track.
