Small Upcycled Valentine Heart Candy Box and Mini Album

This is an upcycled candy box that I altered and then made a mini album to go inside the box.  I also put a window in the lid of the box.  I used Delta Ceramcoat Crackle to give it a distressed vintage look.

A look at the box and mini album.

Small Upcycled Valentine Heart Candy Box and Mini AlbumI used a piece of acetate sheet for the window.  I just traced the shape of the box and cut the acetate to fit.  I cut the pages of the album from 1/8 inch thick chipboard.

6″ x 6″ Wedding Mini Album

This is a wedding album that I made for a friends wedding.

The pages of this album are made with a single 12″ x 12″ piece of paper.  In the way the paper is folded this creates four pages.  So to make a 12 page album you only need 3 sheets of 12″ x 12″ paper.  Flip ups, flip downs and flip outs can be created to make space for lots of pockets, tags, and full size photos.  Of course I had to embellished the back of my album.  I like doing that with my cards and albums because I can and it’s another surface to make pretty that often gets ignored.

6″ x 6″ Paper Organizer Mini Album

This 6″ x 6″ mini album is made with one of Close to my Heart’s 6″ X 6″ Paper Organizers (the my acrylix stamps come in the same type of envelope).  You just cut the sides to make a “book” with a snap closure.

Z335Photo of 6 x 6 Mini AlbumThen cut some 12″ x 12″ pattern paper in half so you have strips of 6″ x 12″ paper.  Then score and fold in half to make 6″ x 6″ pages.  Next pierce the folds of the cover and pages in three places and “sew” the pages into the cover.  Embellish as desired and within a few minutes you have a mini album with a durable cover that can withstand bouncing around in your purse or diaper bag.  Quick, easy and simple.  An awesome weekend project.

Close to my Heart My Creations Memory Game

The chipboard pieces are divided into three bucket list mini albums (one for each of my family members).  I punched one side with my cropadile and bound them with twine.  Then I lined one side of each chipboard page for journaling the bucket list and left one side for a photo of the bucket list item.  This is great for looking back on if you start feeling depressed or discouraged and even negative.  We need to fill our lives and homes with these mood lifting, positive things to keep us on track.

Strathmore Pad Album

Turn this simple drawing pad into a fabulous album.  The camera really doesn’t do this album justice because of all the interactive pages.  There’s an envelope in the back for ephemera, a waterfall mini album, flip ups and flip outs.  The many different ways of folding the pages of the drawing pad lead to lots of pockets, tags, and journaling.  Lots of full size photos can be put in this album.

Book Making

Meander or Maze Albums

The way a meander or maze album is made is the reasoning behind the name.  Any size square paper will work but it must be square.  So if you have a 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock divide it into fourths equally (at the 3″, 6″ and 9″ measurements) then score and fold.  Do this again in the other direction (your paper should resemble a tic tac toe game with one extra line in each direction).  Then on one side cut the first score line up to the last score that runs in the opposite direction being careful not to cut past the score line.  Rinse, lather, repeat on the last score line.  Turn the cardstock half way around so that the uncut side is facing you and rinse, lather, repeat on the middle score line.  At this point your cardstock should look like a giant M or W.  Next you just start accordion folding at one end and continue to the other end.

They make great little brag books for holidays.

If a 12″ x 12″ piece of paper is used the album will measure 3″ wide x 3″ high.  If a cover is added the album will be a little larger.  It will have 16 pages, and depending on how the pages are glued together they can have 6 pockets and 6 tags or even more than that.  They can hold 28 photos sometimes even more than that.

You can even cover over the spine with paper, fabric or ribbon to make them look more like a cute little book.

Depending on how the pages are glued together you can have top loading pockets or side loading pockets or a combination of top and side pockets.  You can even completely glue the pages together to create an album with no pockets.  Great for passwords or a small journal for a pre-teen.

They can be as fancy or as simple as you want them to be.

You can even have a little fun and put two or three or more albums together to make a thicker album like I did here.

For fun just to see how small I could go I made one with an 8″ x 8″ square and 6″ x 6″ square of paper.

8″ x8″ and 6″ x6″ Starting Paper Meander or Maze Album

The album on the left is made with an 8″ x8″ square.  The 6″ x6″ is on the right.  I did put tiny little tags in the one on the right and tiny little photos could be put into both albums.

As you can see I went a little wild making a lot of these albums (they’re very addictive, fun and cute).
